So, Anime You Like Lately
Moderator: Moderators
It was in US theaters on Sunday. Apparently the Blu-Ray won't come out for a stupidly long time, though.

ok, so i absolutely HATE the new Character Designs of the GitS prequel Arise . .
But i was sold on episode 2 mere seconds after the episode started and they showed the main protagonist to be a logicoma in this case.

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.
So I watched the Madoka movie..........
The translation was kinda bad, can someone maybe explain to the ending a little bit?

So I get that Houmara went... um, different, and somehow sucked in Madoka and created a world. But:
1) Is this the real world now, like Madoka, where she changes everything, or is this a jammed in small sphere, like the movie up to that point?
2) So what are Magical girls in this world? Do they now not and never have existed?
3) The impression I got was that it basically portrayed the ending as her making Madoka happier at the expense of basically, the entire world, but if magical girls don't exist, then isn't this also better for the world than Madoka's version, so what the hell is the problem?
Is she supposed to be a tragic figure, because I'm not sure I want her to be, because while arguably that whole joining with Madoka to never be apart in the world conscience might be better for her... she does still get to be eternal friends with Madoka, which appears to be all she wanted.
I like her better as a shitty shit person who is hurting everyone except Madoka and herself because that is all she cares about. But I really don't see how she is hurting anyone else (well, a little bit Sayiki but...)

1) Ambiguous/irrelevant. There's some weird things about that imply it's her labyrinth, but the expansion phase engulfed many stars, so in that sense it doesn't matter because everywhere and everyone we care about is inside. Going by the scene where it happens, Homura and Kyubey at least think it was a rewrite of reality, but they might be wrong.
2/3) Pretty sure they're still around. The Wraiths are, so someone needs to deal with them, and Sayaka's angry rant implies Magical Girls are too, plus she retains Witch powers. Some people take Homura's hand-clap as destroying her Witch form, but I think that was just contemptuously smacking it down. Also, assuming Kyubey wasn't lying back in the show (Personally I suspect he was because his statements were conveniently unverifiable for once) the wishes have had pretty major consequences for human civilization like it existing. Now, apparently the Law of the Cycle didn't get totally wiped out, but ripping Madoka out of it may have consequences unless Joan of Arc or someone takes over leading the Witch-Valkryies. Homura seems to neither know nor care.
I dunno that she's a tragic figure as such, but she has more or less gone nuts. Mind, her goal is to make Madoka happy and if something does go wrong with the Law of the Cycle Madoka isn't going to be happy until she fixes it, so that could be a problem.

So I'm watching the first episode of Ghost in the Shell Arise.
Little things about technology are funny, like apparently they still use cds instead of flash drives, even though there is basically no chance of that in the cyberbrain future, or even in the next five years.
But the weirdest thing, apparently cyborg bodies need underwear. That makes no sense. On like, three different levels.

1) Assumed both. Reality rewrite via the known universe being said enclosed space.
2) They definitely do exist. Movie makes a point on showing Kyouko's and Sayaka's Soul Gem rings. Witches exist in superposition, which is why Sayaka can summon Oktavia, Nagisa is around and those fuzzy mustache dudes are shown. Law of Cycles does exist, since Wraiths are enemies and Madoka gods out.
3) Open to interpretation. And Homura does not get to be with Madoka in her own mind. Madoka kind of rejects her, in fact. That's what handing back the ribbons is for. She's still a shitty shit person, but she doesn't even care about herself anymore. The ending can be read as Homura making Madoka and the others (even Sayaka) happy at the expense of herself.

aside from the obnoxious CGI, but that actually works out kinda nicely because it's in world CGI too technically . .

Well, Freezing! Vibration has now finished, and even from the start they punch you in the tit.
In happier news, there's going to be six silly mini-episodes like with the first season, bringing some comedy in to cheer everyone up after killing cast members people liked.

Not really an anime, but I started reading this silly manga called One-Punch Man, about a superhero who is so overwhelmingly mighty that he destroys everything he fights in one punch.
So far, I'm liking it for the silliness. And some cool art. Which applies to everyone except the main character.

He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

One Punch is paneled with web viewing in mind, so there's some sequences that fit together nicely into animated gifsMaxus wrote:Not really an anime, but I started reading this silly manga called One-Punch Man, about a superhero who is so overwhelmingly mighty that he destroys everything he fights in one punch.

Busuo Shinki is ok until you realize it is a ripooff of Angelic LAyer, but it doesnt bother with the owner and the toys are more like Persacoms that are "living" and jsut goes on about there life. which isn't really that bad from a combat toy perspective, until it goes softcore into heavy T&A and loses any story because it is really jsut a commercial for toys that it was based off of.
the only thing that kept me hanging on through it as short as it is was that it comes form the perspective of the toys like Borrowers and the Littles did and how they would use things made for other people, and they actually were digital devices so connected to things like the phone system and could be contacted and such directly and had their own type of visual display devices like iPads or whatever.
it just really forgot that these were toys in some episodes and went onto showing them just as "people" living their own lives with the fact they are toys as an afterthought and thus seemed more like a silly harem series since for some reason ALL the toys are female. the slumber party concept is rampant in it.
it is a series worth at least one watch to anyone who likes that kind of thing, be it technology or those kind of toys.

What with discovering youtube has all of Sailor Moon subbed, this is to remind myself where I'm up to... and possibly to frighten people by watching way too much.
